When I look back on my life, I notice that I’ve been through different seasons. Some seasons are full of productivity, discipline, and fulfillment while others consist of confusion, anxiety, and hopelessness. That’s just how life tends to go, at least for me.

Ecclesiastes 3 says:

“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

This natural ebb and flow of life has been interesting me lately, especially when I’m in a tougher season. But I’ve found it important to remind myself that there is always a good season waiting in the future.

God has used these seemingly negative times in my life to build me into the person I am today. Because of this, I think that a certain kind of wisdom is only gained on the other side of suffering.

The big lesson here lies in Ecclesiastes 3: There is a time for everything. If you’re in a season of grieving, remember that it’s just a season. If you’re in a season of joy, remember it’s just a season.

This idea makes the difficult moments of life a little easier to deal with. I know that God is sovereign and they won’t go on forever. On the other hand, I enjoy the good moments even more, because I know they won’t last forever until I’m united with Jesus in Heaven.

I hope you got something out of this week’s post. And remember: There is a time for everything.

Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.

God bless,

Trevor
