Marathon

Yesterday, I ran a marathon. I really didn’t want to, but I did anyway.

Lately, it’s been hard for me to do difficult things, and I’ve become lazy when it comes to getting stuff done.

This marathon was a reminder that sometimes I have to do difficult things to remind myself that I’m capable and able to do them. It brought my confidence up and I think in the coming weeks, the smaller things will seem more doable.

During the race, it was a constant battle to keep going, but the more difficulty the more fulfillment. And I don’t necessarily want to live a ‘happy’ life, rather a fulfilling one. The more I live the more I realize how big of a difference that is.

On another note, the spectators cheering us on reminded me of the beauty of human connection. Even in the hardest parts of the race, I couldn’t help but smile at some of the creative signs people made. My favorite was: “I’ve been training months to hold this sign.”

And overall, everyone from the pacers to the water station volunteers, to the medical team, and especially the friends and families cheering everyone on made such a positive difference. Everyone was supportive, even fellow runners.

I want to challenge you to do something difficult this week to remind yourself of the things you can accomplish. It doesn’t have to be something big and grand; it’s more about the concept than the action/event.

Grow in His grace. Be shaped by His hands. Walk the everlasting way.

God bless,

Trevor
